In support of Connie's Day fundraising for St John of God Berwick Hospital Kangan Drive Palliative Care Services
"When asked to create a piece for the Connie's day fund raiser the decision to paint one of Connie's own animals was obvious given Connie's passion for both art and her animals. My wife and I consider the Manley’s as a second family and we were very close to Connie so I wanted to paint something that acknowledged that as well as something that I thought Connie herself would want to hang in her own art collection. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Adam Cullen and David Bromley which Connie was so fond of, I opted for the pallet knife to create thick luxurious blends using colours and textures that aimed to emphasise light and shade whilst embellishing the kindness in Stella’s eyes. I wanted to make Stella appear larger than life by contrasting her against a flat white back drop, strong with bold colours and endearing with soft accents, all of which encompass who Connie was to me’."
