This piece is part of my Every Bloom collection — a series that dives deep into my love for native Australian flora. There’s something endlessly inspiring about the sculptural drama of waratahs and banksias, the gentle curl of eucalyptus leaves, and the quiet strength of gumnuts. I painted this arrangement with layers of bold, expressive brushwork, set against a soft sky-blue backdrop that brings calm and contrast to the earthy tones of the blooms. That blue adds a breath of fresh air — a nod to the vast skies above the bush and farmland I’ve lived in. Creating this series let me merge structure with spontaneity, paying homage to the beauty of our natural world in a way that feels honest and handmade.

Through the use of mixed media, combining acrylics, spray, enamel and intermittent use of oil paints I let my subject emerge from a rich and deeply layered base. The dimensional texture that masterfully unveils each layer, lets the bright colours play in harmony and contrast with each other.
This artwork is created on 380gsm 100% cotton canvas and finished with a double coat UV resistant, high gloss varnish to protect the integrity and longevity of the painting. Stretched and ready to hang, using gallery-grade hanging wire, this artwork is completed with a custom-crafted floating frame made from Tasmanian oak. I have signed this original painting on the front and back, with its title and date written on the rear of the canvas.
