'Colourfull Companions' - Solo Exhibition at Manyung Gallery, Sorrento

What a journey it’s been — my Colourful Companions exhibition at @manyunggallery Sorrento has come to a close, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

My recent exhibition, Colourful Companions, at Manyung Gallery Sorrento was nothing short of extraordinary. Almost ten years ago to the day, I walked into that very gallery and discovered the work of the late John Giese. His paintings stopped me in my tracks and reignited a passion for art that had been lying dormant. With the support of my wife, who bought me a small paint kit that very day, I began painting again — a journey that has carried me through the last decade.

To stand in that same gallery with a full exhibition of my own was truly a full-circle moment. Colourful Companions paid tribute to John’s vitality and creativity, while also celebrating the evolution of my own practice. Each piece was created with bold brushstrokes, vibrant colour, and layered mixed media, designed to capture not just the likeness but the spirit of my subjects — from the playfulness of cockatoos to the strength of a bull or the freshness of eucalyptus leaves.

The response to the show was overwhelming. Collectors, old and new, connected deeply with the work, and I’m humbled that so many pieces have now found their way into new homes.

I want to sincerely thank the Manyung Gallery team for their incredible support in bringing this exhibition to life, and to all the collectors, friends, and art lovers who came along, engaged with the work, and added to the energy of the show.

Colourful Companions was a celebration of inspiration, creativity, and connection — and I’m so grateful to have shared it with you.
