'Flutter and Feathers' - Solo Exhibition at Milkfactory Gallery, Bowral, NSW

A Celebration of Tiny Wings

I’ve always been drawn to the little things — the flashes of colour that dart through the bush, the sudden flick of a wing, the tiny movements we often miss when life is moving too fast. Flutter & Feathers is my way of slowing that all down, of putting the spotlight on the smallest birds that call Australia home.

I feel really lucky — and honestly honoured — to have been invited back to show at Milkfactory Gallery in Bowral. It’s a space that means a lot to me, and having the chance to fill it again with new work feels pretty special.

This exhibition, Flutter & Feathers, is all about the smallest of our native birds. The ones that zip past in a blur of feathers, the ones you almost miss unless you stop and take notice. There are forty works in this series, each one a little celebration of those fleeting, fragile moments.

For me, painting these birds was a way of slowing down. They might be tiny, but they carry so much energy and presence. I wanted to capture that spark — the brightness, the character, the life that’s wrapped up in a single flap of a wing.

Milkfactory is the perfect home for this show. The gallery’s light and openness give space for each piece to breathe, for viewers to move in close and notice new details. It feels like the right place to honour these little creatures, whose beauty is often overlooked.

My work has always been about connection — to the land, to animals, to the quieter rhythms of everyday life. With Flutter & Feathers, I hope you’ll find a moment to pause, look closer, and see these small birds the way I do: vibrant, delicate, and endlessly alive.
