'Hinterland Hues' Solo Exhibiton at Art Images Gallery, Adelaide

Still riding the high from my first solo exhibition at Art Images Gallery in South Australia — what a ride!

It was a real honour to be invited to exhibit with Art Images Gallery and to have the opportunity to present my first solo show in such a respected space. I’ve long admired the work they support, so to be included in that mix felt incredibly special. Big thanks to the team for backing me and giving this new body of work a platform — I couldn’t have asked for a better launch into solo exhibitions.

The exhibition, titled ‘Hinterland Hues’, was born from a couple of months I spent with my family — kids, pups and all — travelling the northern NSW coast in a caravan late last year. That trip planted something in me. The lush greens, the layered textures of the landscape, the constant shifting of light — it all left a strong mark. When I returned to the studio, I brought that energy with me. What followed was a big shift in pace and palette, and the works in this show are the result of that.

This collection is full of layered, mixed media paintings that echo the vibrant, overgrown beauty of the hinterland. My process builds depth and texture through bold colour, chaos and movement — much like the land itself. You’ll see the familiar faces of farm animals, native birds, flora and wild creatures, all emerging through swirls of paint, spray and oil stick. Each piece is infused with that journey — not just the landscapes we passed through, but the rhythm of life lived a little slower, surrounded by the raw richness of nature.

The show was a huge success, and I’m incredibly grateful to the Art Images Gallery team for their support. And to all the collectors — both new and longtime legends — who came through, connected with the work and took a piece home: thank you! I’m so grateful for your support and stoked to know these pieces have found new walls and homes.

South Australia — that was a beauty. Can’t wait to be back.
