'Just Dogs' exhibition at the Milk Factory Gallery in Bowral

Still excited from an incredible experience at the JustDogs exhibition at the Milk Factory Gallery in Bowral.

When the invite came through to be part of this show, I was all in — dogs have been a huge part of my artistic journey, and painting them has always felt personal. My own two legends, Disney and Faloo, are more than just pets — they’re part of the family, part of the studio life, part of everything. They’ve shaped the way I see and connect with animals, and that love spills into the work. I’ve also got a deep admiration for Australian working dogs — their drive, their loyalty, their grit. So being part of Just Dogs felt like a match made in heaven — a perfect chance to pay tribute to our four-legged companions and the stories they carry.

When I paint dogs, I’m not just chasing a likeness — I’m chasing their spirit. My process is raw and expressive, built up in layers of mixed media — acrylics, oil sticks, spray paint — each one adding movement and texture. That freedom in the medium lets me bring out the personality in each breed. Whether it’s the quirky charm of a French Bulldog, the solid strength ofa Bulldog, or the alert intensity of a Kelpie, I try to capture what makes them tick — the glint in their eye, the tilt of their head, the energy they carry.

As part of the show, I also had the honour of donating oneof my favourite dog works to help raise funds for FOWAS (Friends of theWingecarribee Animal Shelter). Knowing that the piece went towards supporting animals in care at the local shelter means the world to me. Every creature deserves a shot at a good life, and I’m proud that my art could play a small part in that.

Massive thanks to the team at the Milk Factory Gallery for curating such a beautiful and heartfelt show — and to all the new and familiar collectors who came by, shared a story, and took a piece home. It was a realjoy to be part of something that celebrates our loyal mates so powerfully. Bowral, that was a good one 🐾❤️
