There’s something magic about spring — that first rush of warmth that lifts the air, the hum of life flickering back into motion. Only in Spring was born from that feeling — the energy, colour and renewal that comes when the world wakes up again. In October 2021, I had the absolute honour of presenting this solo exhibition at Gullotti Galleries in Perth, and I still feel deeply grateful for the experience. From the first night, the response was overwhelming — conversations flowed, people connected, and so many paintings found new homes. To everyone who came through, and to the new collectors who now live with pieces from the show — thank you. Your support means the world.
This solo collection was a celebration of transformation. Our Australian landscape never sits still — it shifts, hums, and bursts with quiet energy. In early spring, that energy becomes almost electric. Blooms push through the soil, birds rebuild, colours sharpen and movement returns. That pulse of life is what I wanted to capture on canvas.
My painting process is instinctive and layered — acrylics, spray, oil stick, enamel — building texture and movement until the surface feels alive. I let the paint find its rhythm, just like the land does. The creatures and forms that appear are expressions of curiosity and resilience — symbols of how nature never really stops, it just changes pace.
Only in Spring was more than a collection of paintings. It was a reflection of hope, renewal and the beauty hidden in the in-between moments — that quiet pause before everything bursts into life again.
Huge thanks to Paul and Chloe at Gullotti Galleries for their incredible hospitality and belief in this project. And to everyone who came, supported, and shared their thoughts — thank you. Only in Spring was an unforgettable moment — a true celebration of art, season and story.
