Still pinching myself after an incredible first showing in the U.S.
When the team at Toowoomba Gallery reached out and invited me to be part of the Affordable Art Fair in Austin, I didn’t hesitate for a second. I’ve always dreamed of getting my work in front of an American audience, and to finally have that happen — and in Texas, of all places — was a huge milestone. This was my first time exhibiting in the States, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about how it all unfolded.
I’ve been curious about the Texas art scene for a while now, and ahead of the fair I dove right into researching the culture — and honestly, I fell in love with it. There’s something incredibly grounded and raw about theTexan lifestyle, especially its deep roots in farm life, cattle, and horses. That connection to the land, the grit and character of the animals, and the way they’re respected and celebrated — it really spoke to me. It felt like a natural fit with my own practice, which has always been about capturing the soul of the creatures that live and work alongside us.
The show itself was a massive success — a total sell-out, and I’m still buzzing. The bulls and horses flew out the door, and it was clear that the work struck a chord with the Austin crowd. There was a real appreciation for the expressive energy and raw texture in the pieces, and so many conversations about the stories behind the animals. It was amazing to see how strongly the work resonated — I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better first step into the U.S. art world.
Huge thanks to the incredible crew from Toowoomba Gallery — Niki, Bec, and Pam — for championing my work and making it all happen, and to the team at the Affordable Art Fair for putting on such a killer event. And ofcourse, to everyone who came by the stand and took a piece home — I’m beyond grateful to all my new collectors in Austin. Can’t wait to come back and do it all again. 🤠❤️
