'The Land Up-Over' - Solo Exhibition at Gullotti Galleries, Perth

I’m beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to showcase my solo exhibition ‘Land Up Over’ at Gullotti Galleries in Perth. To see the walls come alive with this body of work — and to feel the energy from everyone who came through the doors — was something I’ll never forget. The response was incredible. The show was so warmly received, and I can’t thank the collectors, supporters, and the Gullotti team enough for the love and encouragement that surrounded it all.

‘Land Up Over’ is a collection close to my heart — a playful inversion of the familiar, a twist on the iconic Australian dream. The title itself was a tongue-in-cheek nod to our home being called the “land down under.” I wanted to flip that idea — to imagine what happens when we look at the world from a new perspective, one that celebrates the everyday beauty of our backyard and the creatures that share it with us.

When I paint, I start with my surroundings — the dust, the open sky, the curve of a hill, the stare of a bull or the quiet glance of a bird. Every stroke is layered with intention. Through mixed media, texture, and bursts of colour, I try to capture more than an image — I want to paint the energy, the spirit, the pulse of the land itself.

In ‘Land Up Over,’ I imagined a world turned upside down — a place where the humble and the wild coexist in an almost dreamlike state. Where a kelpie might meet your gaze mid-sprint, where a kangaroo watches from the periphery, where colour drips and morphs into life. It’s an idyllic, imaginative version of an Australian backyard — one that feels both surreal and deeply familiar.

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing Gullotti Galleries team for their support and care in bringing this show to life, and to every new collector who took a piece of Land Up Over home — your belief in my work keeps me creating. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.
