This new flower still life series has been an exciting shift — a chance to explore native flora in a bold, focused way. This piece features a mix of proteas, waratahs, gumnuts and eucalyptus leaves arranged loosely in a vase, painted in my expressive, layered style. There’s something deeply satisfying about capturing these forms in a still moment — sculptural, wild, yet intentionally placed. Painted on matboard with scuffed, torn edges, then framed in oak and non-reflective art glass, the finish is raw yet refined. I’ve really enjoyed how this new format sharpens the energy of the work. A fresh, contemporary take on native Australian botanical art for collectors who love colour, texture and life.

Through the use of mixed media, combining acrylics, spray, enamel and intermittent use of oil paints I let my subject emerge from a rich and deeply layered base. The dimensional texture that masterfully unveils each layer, lets the bright colours play in harmony and contrast with each other.
This artwork is created on 380gsm 100% cotton canvas and finished with a double coat UV resistant, high gloss varnish to protect the integrity and longevity of the painting. Stretched and ready to hang, using gallery-grade hanging wire, this artwork is completed with a custom-crafted floating frame made from Tasmanian oak. I have signed this original painting on the front and back, with its title and date written on the rear of the canvas.
