I’ve always had a soft spot for Australian birdlife — they’re full of personality and colour, especially the tiny wrens. This piece captures a male and female wren perched side by side on a branch, nestled close like they’re sharing a quiet moment. I love how these little birds stick together — they’re small, but full of character. Painted in my expressive, layered style using acrylics, oil sticks, and spray paint, the work is textured, loose, and vibrant. It’s a celebration of connection and native beauty — perfect for collectors of contemporary Australian bird art and nature-inspired interiors.

Through the use of mixed media, combining acrylics, spray, enamel and intermittent use of oil paints I let my subject emerge from a rich and deeply layered base. The dimensional texture that masterfully unveils each layer, lets the bright colours play in harmony and contrast with each other.
This artwork is created on 380gsm 100% cotton canvas and finished with a double coat UV resistant, high gloss varnish to protect the integrity and longevity of the painting. Stretched and ready to hang, using gallery-grade hanging wire, this artwork is completed with a custom-crafted floating frame made from Tasmanian oak. I have signed this original painting on the front and back, with its title and date written on the rear of the canvas.
